Inside view of my station in Massachusetts in earlier days.

I used this arrangement with the radios supported on a riser for several years.  It had the advantage of allowing the keyboard to slide under the shelf.  The disadvantage is that it puts the radios too far off the table.  This would cause some fatigue over the course of a contest.
